Grain Operations Manager                                     

 

SUMMARY: To manage and oversee all aspects of grain operations, provide leadership and training to Grain Location Managers while maximizing cooperative profitability through the efficient operation and utilization of grain facilities, equipment, safety, training and programs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for overseeing the operation of Grain Operations to include elevators, grain handling equipment, railcar loading procedures and all other elevator related equipment.
  2. Manages and directs the operation, condition, loading, storage and processing of all grain.
  3. Responsible for coordinating with VP of Grain and Merchandisers scheduling, loading and unloading of trucks and railcars.
  4. Responsible for coordinating a program for monitoring the condition of all grain, regular monitoring of grain temperatures, daily / weekly / monthly measurements and calculating of inventory by all Grain Location Managers.
  1. Coordinates operations and expectations with Location Managers for day-to-day as well as harvest planning.
  2. Develops and coordinates a housekeeping program to monitor and maintain the condition of all grain, facility housekeeping and pest control for all locations with all Grain Location Managers.
  1. Reviews customer complaints and resolve them when possible.
  2. Keeps informed of new technologies in grain handling.
  3. Responsible for the supervision, training of all Grain Location Managers.
  4. Responsible for the inventory and control of all tools and equipment assigned to the Grain Division.
  5. Responsible to establish and implement a maintenance program to insure equipment and vehicles within the Grain Division operate properly and safely.
  6. Orders supplies and coordinates repairs, utilizing purchase orders to validate purchases and processes for

Payment through File Bound / AP System.

  1. Assists with preparation of the annual budget and operated within its parameters.
  2. Follows all company rules and policies.
  3. Complies with all applicable OSHA, EPA and FDA rules and regulations.
  4. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
  5. Takes an active role in promoting growth, progress, and profitability of the cooperative.
  6. Takes an active part in building high morale within the employee group.
  7. Serve member patrons in a manner that will improve the economic well-being and increase their patronage of the cooperative.
  8. Attend meeting and training sessions as directed by supervisor.
  9. Responsible for immediately correcting and notifying supervisor of any potential health or safety hazard or any other situations that might cause harm to an employee, the cooperative or the general public.
  10. Gives prompt courteous service to all customers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Management of all Grain Location Managers

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field. Must have leadership skills, mechanical skills and a solid understanding of multiple types of Grain Elevator storage types. Project management experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This job may require extended hours of work during peak seasons. The position may require moderate to heavy lifting of up to 100 lbs. The position may require working at heights.
